Don't Pick on Me VHS
Most kids get teased by other kids at some time, but when teasing gets out of hand, it takes an ugly turn and becomes harassment. This 21-minute video examines the dynamics behind teasing and being teased, and models effective responses to being harassed. Viewers are challenged to explore the issue of peer cruelty through thought-provoking discussion questions.
Eric has become the target of Monkey's bullying tricks. After an especially humiliating incident, Eric plays sick so he won't have to go to school. Helped by his teacher to see how banding together with friends against a bully takes the bully's power away, Eric is finally able to get Monkey to stop picking on him.
After seeing Paula talking to Wayne, an angry and jealous Anita talks the rest of their group into giving Paula the silent treatment. Bewildered and upset when even her friend Lisa shuns her, Paula's depression deepens. New friends help Paula see that by dropping Anita's group and joining theirs, she can break Anita's power to make her feel bad and gradually recover from the hurt. For grades 5-9.
